I first saw this quote at a friend's house several years ago. I don't know who said it but it's one of those things that you don't think much about, at the time, but it keeps coming back to you.
For me it was reoccurring as I've had to adjust to events that were beyond my control. Some were serious challenges, such as losing a loved one. Others were less so. I know that I'm not alone. Life is like that. We lose jobs. We lose some we love. We end a marriage or a friendship.
Here's what I've learned. Adjusting our sails means making choices. Often these choices are not easy, but ultimately it's easier than trying to change the direction of the wind.
We make choices every day!
Sometimes we make them consciously and with good thought but too often we make them without solid thought. AND, sometimes we make choices by making no conscious choice at all.
To take no action is in and of itself is making a choice. By making no choice, we leave the outcome to fate or worse; to the whims of others. And, it is this that leads us to feel like victims and powerless. Eventually it leads to martyrdom.
To make life choices, there are some clear things we can do. We need to know ourselves. What are our priorities? What is important to you?
Are you staying a job because it is working for you or because you don't know what else to do?
Are you choosing or are you just stuck?
What would you have to give up to make a different choice? What would you gain?
Yes, that is reality! Choices do not come without a price. Only after you look at life in this way can you really see it as a choice.
So, you might say "How do we make choices when life intervenes and things we didn't plan happen?" Well, first, we don't have to wait to have a catastrophic event to pay attention to making choices. After all, practice makes perfect. If you become aware of the choices you make in everyday life and how they impact you, you will become more aware of your ability to make choices in the rough times.
We can only make choices when we realize that we have them and we can only do that when we are ready to deal with reality.
And yes, that is sometimes unpleasant, even painful. Having choices does not mean that things are easy or that we will always be happy with them. Life is give and take and so are our choices.
Sometimes our first choice is not even on the list. We may not even like most of the choices available. So, we too often tend to think we have no choice at all.
But, we always have choices! If nothing else, we can choose how to respond to the life events over which we had no choice. If you lose a job, you can choose to see this as a defeat or as an opportunity. You can feel sorry for yourself or you can choose to be challenged. Who knows what else is out there until you take the time to look. And, many of us don't do that unless life pushes us.
Possibly one of the most challenging times in life is losing a loved one. We can feel hopeless and powerless. We can really believe we have no choices and just live in our grief. But, we can choose how to look at life. Are you cursed or were you blessed to have wonderful and strong memories? What do you want to do with those memories? Do you want to see only that there will be no more memories or do you want to keep those great memories alive?
We can even choose our attitude. Just about every event in life has both negative and positive. Where do we put our focus?
This may seem like so much common sense. But we all know someone who makes few choices and feels victimized by life. Most of us have spent some time there ourselves. It is not a pretty place.
So, each day, we need to check the direction of the wind, decide where we want to go and then set our sails to get there – as opposed to cursing the wind for not making it easy.
GOD Bless Us

Love and Heart
Love. What is Love?
It just come from now nowhere, and actually you have no idea about what, when, where, and how. All you know that it just suddenly come and stay in your heart.
You can't control it.
It could make you strong, be braver than you are before,
instead of, that it could make you weak, throwing you down to lowest 'ground'.
You can't see it, but you can feel it in your heart.
Yes, your heart...
Heart. What is heart?
When you are in love, just by those stare, that smile, the presence, then you can feel it whole in your heart, so fully.
And from that moment, it moves the whole part of your life.
You feel happy,
You feel full,
Your life taste so sweet,
You feel brave.
But in the same heart, when we are in the different view and decision, it will be soon become empty.
So, in order to fill up your heart,
You're searching for everywhere,
You're seeing anywhere,
And when you think you already seen enough,
The fact is, it's an endless hole ...
No matter how hard you try to fill it up, still couldn't fill it wholefully.
In the end, those who are suffering, only can push themself to work very hard,
so there won't be a chance for them to think and weeping about their love and pain in their heart.

Happiness
"From the moment we wake up in the morning till our head hits the pillow at night, our lives are filled with questions. Most are easily answered and soon forgotten.
But some question are much harder to ask, because we're so afraid of the answer.
And what happens when we ask ourself the hard question and get the answer we'd been hoping for?
Well, that's when happiness begins."

Quality of Life
Quality of life, it's not about material (wealth - how much money u've got, how rich u are), honer, great status, & empowerment. Quality of life is the essence in ur life; of what u really seek for in this life; the real meaning, the real purpose of what u've been searching for in ur entire life (what u really want!).
People who got the quality of their life : appreciate their life, enjoy n living their life well, get the real happiness from deep inside their heart (not a fake one!).
Quality of life doesn't mean having wealth, power, or intelligence. It's matter of how much u appreciate ur life, how much love u give and receive from others, and how much the joy n happines u've got from it.
Happiness, Freedom, Wealth, Status n Power...
Which one do u chooose?

Deja Vu
Ever have deja vu? Now this is the explanation:
It's an eerie experience that just about everyone has had more than once:
you walk into a room or find yourself in a conversation, and suddenly you have the overwhelming sense--even though you know it's impossible-- that you've been here before. Psychologists call it déjà vu--"already seen," in French--but despite the phenomenon's universal familiarity, no one has offered a convincing explanation for why it happens.
But the mystery may have been solved, by a team of neuroscientists at MIT's Picower Institute for Learning and Memory. Researcher Thomas McHugh and several colleagues have uncovered a specific memory circuit in the brains of mice that is probably the cause of this weird sensation, which turns out to be a sort of memory-based analogue of an optical illusion. Although neuroscientists have realized for some time that memory is made up of many different components-- long and short term, episodic (that is to say, memories of events) and fact based, and that it takes place in different parts of the brain--McHugh' s research, first reported in the online edition of Science, adds another intriguing clue to the phenomenon.
McHugh and his team were trying to untangle the neurological circuitry of the hippocampus, a region of the brain where new memories are formed. Neuroscientists know memories are actually groups of brain cells linked by especially strong chemical connections; recalling a memory involves finding and activating a specific group. It's important for the brain to know some memories are similar to each other- The pleasure of eating raspberries is much like that of eating strawberries, for example. But it's also important to be able to distinguish memories that are similar but not identical--eating another kind of red berry could make you sick. This ability is known as pattern separation.
McHugh's senior colleague Susumu Tonegawa, a Nobel laureate for his work on the genetics of immunity, had uncovered a related mechanism, called pattern completion, several years ago. That enables you to retrieve complete memories based on just a single cue--for example, the question "Did we go to school together?"
He and McHugh suspected, based on this earlier work, that they could identify the specific gene that regulated pattern separation. So they used genetic engineering to create a mouse without this crucial gene and devised an experiment to test the hypothesis. The mice were guided into a box where they would get a mild foot shock; they would react by freezing. Then they were guided into a very similar box with no shock. The altered mice would freeze in the safe box as well, and it took them a long time to figure out the difference. Normal mice figured it out pretty quickly. It's also this circuit, the scientists are convinced, that explains déjà vu. Every so often, they believe, the pattern-separation circuit misfires, and a new experience that's merely similar to an older one seems identical. "It doesn't happen very often to most people," Tonegawa says. Intriguingly, some people with epilepsy have this experience all the time. "Epileptic seizures involve random firing of neurons in the temporal lobes, which include the
hippocampus, " he says, and that could scramble the circuit.
But people with epilepsy-induced déjà vu usually don't experience the same
disturbing eeriness that's so common in others. And that difference supports
McHugh and Tonegawa's theory as well. "We suspect that the strange feeling
comes from a conflict between two parts of the brain," Tonegawa says. "The
neocortex is aware of the fact that you've never been in a situation before.
The hippocampus is telling you that, yes, you have." As basic research scientists, Tonegawa and McHugh don't claim that their work will lead to a drug or therapy--not yet. And if it does, nobody is likely to focus on déjà vu, a mere side effect of memory. But a fuller understanding of how the hippocampus works could lead to the creation of a drug that strengthens the pattern-recognition circuit, which could help people overcome fearful memories that are triggered by associations with a
familiar-seeming place (like a dentist's office). Of course, if you strengthen the circuitry too much, you might get the opposite illusion: jamais vu, in which you get the eerie feeling that you've never been in a situation before even though you know otherwise.
"What a confusing explanation! (Kebanyakan bahasa ilmiahnya soalnye - bahasa tingkat tinggi booo! LOL.
But anyway, Thanx to Billy. N, for this nice article."

Don't Stop Dancing - by Creed
At times life is wicked and I just can't see the light
A silver lining sometimes isn't enough
To make some wrongs seem right
Whatever life brings
I've been through everything
And now I'm on my knees again
But I know I must go on
Although I hurt I must be strong
Because inside I know that many feel this way
[Chorus:]
Children don't stop dancing
Believe you can fly
Away...away
At times life's unfair and you know it's plain to see
Hey God I know I'm just a dot in this world
Have you forgot about me?
Whatever life brings
I've been through everything
And now I'm on my knees again
But I know I must go on
Although I hurt I must be strong
Because inside I know that many feel this way
[Chorus]
Am I hiding in the shadows?
Forget the pain and forget the sorrows
Am I hiding in the shadows?
Forget the pain and forget the sorrows
But I know I must go on
Although I hurt I must be strong
Because inside I know that many feel this way
[Chorus]
Am I hiding in the shadows?
Are we hiding in the shadows?
"Love the song. Love the lyrics... Don't you? "
Lonelyness
People afraid of dark. People afraid of snake. People afraid of rat. People afraid of spider. People afraid of shark. People afraid of high. People afraid of ... bla bla blaa.. But what's the most they're afraid of? It is lonelyness, "alone" in this world.
Lonelyness, the biggest fear of human being (i guess) in this journey called life.
Fear to know that there's noone else they can talk and share to.
Fear to know that there's noone else to love and to be loved.
Fear to know that there's noone else to take care and be taken care.
Fear to know that there's noone else could understand and see the real inside them and know how they felt.
Fear to know that there's noone else they can laugh and cry together along with.
Fear to know that they just all alone by themself.
'Coz the fact is, they need all of that to keep them "alive".
Are you afraid of lonelyness?
Or do you think you're better off alone?
Lonelyness, the biggest fear of human being (i guess) in this journey called life.
Fear to know that there's noone else they can talk and share to.

ReaL Me
What I get?
What you get?
It may be an illusion
And we may only want to believe
That we have got
What I say?
What you say?
If we don't express
Our thoughts and feelings in words
They may not be understood nor reach
The present time
Starts here
A woman never runs away
A woman never hides away
In order to survive
You should not want to be healed
Without fighting
A woman never shows her fears
A woman never shows her tears
In order to survive
You should not easily
Show your tears to someone
What I need?
What you need?
Maybe it's all right
So long as I have desires
And am not satisfied
What I lose?
What you lose?
Maybe I have heard enough people saying
That they knew the value of something
Only after losing it
Love
It's here
A woman could be dangerous
A woman could be generous
In order to survive
We cannot always be
So good girls
A woman could be having fun
A woman could be like a nun
In order to survive
We cannot be kind to others
Before we know pain
A woman never shows her fears
A woman never shows her tears
In order to survive
You should not easily
Show your tears to someone
A woman could be having fun
A woman could be like a nun
In order to survive
As I know
You see the real me

When we share ...
When we share laughter,
There's twice the fun;
When we share success,
We've surpassed what we've done.
When we share problems,
There's half the pain;
When we share tears,
A rainbow follows rain.
When we share dreams,
They become more real;
When we share secrets,
It's our hearts we reveal.
If we share a smile,
That's when our love shows;
If we share a hug,
That's when our love grows.
If we share with someone
On whom we depend,
That person is always
Family or friend.
And what draws us closer
And makes us all care,
Is not what we have,
But the things we share
There's twice the fun;
When we share success,
We've surpassed what we've done.
When we share problems,
There's half the pain;

Change within ourselves
When I was young I prayed, God give me strength to change this world. But when I grew up I realized that was impossible, and I changed my pray, God give me strength to change my country. But it never been came true and I realized that was impossible too.
Then when I was an old I prayed, God give me strength to change my family. The same was happen no significant change in my family. Now, when my time will up, I realize that what I need is to change myself, so I pray, God give me strength to change myself.
You know, if I changed my self from the beginning, I might have power and changed my family. By their supports I might have changed my country. And if I succeed changing my country, I might have more power and changed this world.
Sometimes what we need to change... everythings is by changes ourselves.

We Are HeRoeS
Quote of the day : "We are the hero of our own story."
Great! How can u explain this?
We are making our own movies or serials? We are the "james bond"? Or we are sum kind of "indiana jones" in sum "adventure" world? Or we are the "traveller" in this journey of life?
Yes, it is. And yes, you are!
My friend of mine see his own life as a GAME. Yeah, the game of life (since he's the game maniac, i guess; spending his day along with playing games ;p). Once he has told me about how he see his life. He think that this life is a game, and we are the player a.k.a. hero in that game. We take adventure; there are trials n challenges, and love it or hate it, we must take those trials n challenges if we wanna surpass to another level. And once we've surpass that trials n challenges, we got points and we can move to another level.
In that "game' we also have to take decision whether we have to choose a way from so many ways offered by the game. And it's all about the CHOICE, once u've chosen the way u wanna surpass, u gotta take the risk of the way u've chosen urself. Coz there will be no turning back. In the end, if we can surpass that all, we experienced many things. We then become stronger and stronger.
Oh there are also be winner or looser. If we wanna survive and win in this "game", we must struggle and do the best we can. So, whether u win or lose, it's all about the decision n the choice we make. That is the GAME OF LIFE!
Me. I wanna survive and be the winner in this "game!
So, HOW DO U SEE UR LIFE?

"Interesting" Jakarta
Who said Jakarta isn't interesting place to live?
I've been living in Jakarta for few years. So far so good ... still survive, i mean.
Well, here's the fact:
1. Traffic.
The traffic in here is very "interesting". Maybe u wouldn't find any traffic like this in any country, or would u?? There are always n always TRAFFIC JAM whenever n wherever u go. NO DOUBT! If u could go "smoothly" ur way on the road, well then it's ur lucky day! The vehicles keep increasing year by year, instead the road get more crowded n crowded day by day. So, let's say if u wanna go some place which takes half an hour to go, in here mostly and at least u need to add more 15 minutes to an hour to take u to ur destination. So, u waste ur time n energy about half an hour or could more or less (depending) CRAWLING on the road!
By the way, there are really "u-got-ur-way-i-got-my-way" principle here. If u are a pedestrian, "u got ur way" to go. Dun have to bother the vehicles: the car, the motorcycle, n all public transports, when u wanna pass the road. Just go on ur own, they will notice u n take action depend on u.
If u are the driver of ur own car, i just can say, u gotta be a FEARLESS, CAREFULLY, CONCERN MUCH on another user who will suddenly "appear" in front of ur car, u know, in order to avoid u'll hit another user or their vehicle.
If u are the driver of the public transport, the road is "YOURS". Whenever n wherever u wanna stop ur vehicle, u just stop. No need to bother another user, even u would cause sum big traffic jam behind u. Mind my own business here! Nah, their principle is "u got ur way, i got my way. But if ur way were stucked bcoz of mine, just got ur another way, this is my way". Interesting isn't it?
If u are the driver of motorcycle, the road is all urs too, as long as u got any chance of space where ur motorcycle could go through. U got ur way, rite?
2. The Government
Let's just take a little sample: Once u made some mistake, u hit the road when the light still red n u get caught by a police man. They can be very nice n practical as long as u give them money. U got ur way to go. Got money, got no problem. Got no money... oh no,here's ur problem. "Interesting"!
3. The Environment
Since the road are always crowded with all vehicle, u can imagine how the air would be. U can't find any fresh air here, accept u go to some higher place like mountain.
As i said, as long as they got their own way, they don't care to another. Ur pipe polluted the air. No problem. It's not ur problem. U dun care. As long as u still could use it to travel or make money for u. Just leave it to the earth to take the rest. The earth? It works so hard but can't help with it. Keep warming n warming. No choice, till the end of the world ...
4. The people
"Mind ur own business" really reflects the people in here. We either can throw garbage/trash anywhere we want. Noone would bother. The principle here is, "as long as mine is well, screw another. Hey, don't we live so practical? We can do anything throw everything whereever we want. We just live the best we can be for our own. We don't care about the other thing in this world. We care NOTHING for this world. We care about OURSELF ONLY.For example, we can throw the trash to the river, the lake, the ocean, wherever we want. Noone will notice that until once it happened to disease, flood, pollution here n there. Who would BLAME on who??? "Interesting" people!
SO, who said Jakarta isn't "INTERESTING"?
4. The people
